WTA is built to support safer, better-prepared personnel working in high-risk environments, including wildfire response, emergency medical services, rural public safety, contractor operations, austere environments, and New Mexico film production. What WILDER Means WILDER stands for Wilderness Incident & Integrated Leadership Development, Emergency Response. This reflects WTA’s mission to develop practical readiness, leadership, emergency-response capability, and field-based training for real-world conditions. Founder Wilder Training Academy was founded by Christopher Ventura Olguin, a New Mexico public-safety professional with experience in EMS, wildland fire, New Mexico State Forestry, austere medicine, field instruction, and New Mexico film safety. Chris began his EMS education through Cuyahoga Community College and continued his education through Central New Mexico Community College and the University of New Mexico. His background includes fire science, EMS, paramedicine, wildland fire operations, emergency response, production safety, austere medicine, and field-based instruction. WTA is New Mexico educated, New Mexico tested, and New Mexico True. Training and Consulting Focus Wildland Fire Training and Firefighter Development WTA supports wildland fire training, RT-130 annual refresher training, workforce readiness, contractor support, crew preparedness, and field-based wildland training support. WTA is also developing firefighter pathway support for personnel working toward higher operational readiness, including Firefighter Type 2, Firefighter Type 1, and Squad Boss development concepts where appropriate and aligned with recognized agency, employer, or partner requirements. Fireline Medic and EMS Readiness WTA supports fireline medic readiness, emergency medical preparedness, EMS integration, CPR, First Aid, BLS readiness, and fireline medical awareness for personnel working in remote, rural, wildfire, and high-risk environments. Ready Crew / Workforce Readiness WTA supports individuals, crews, contractors, rural departments, and agencies preparing personnel for safer field operations through practical readiness training, documentation support, and field-informed preparation. Film Production Safety Consulting WTA provides safety planning and technical advising for New Mexico film productions involving EMS, fire, rescue, rural response, remote-location hazards, austere environments, and emergency-response realism. Education and Workforce Bridge WTA is built from both field experience and formal education. Chris’s path began through EMS education at Cuyahoga Community College and continued through Central New Mexico Community College with Fire Science and the University of New Mexico, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in EMS and advanced training through the Diploma in International Mountain Medicine. That education-to-field pathway is part of WTA’s larger mission: helping people build real readiness, enter public-safety pathways, and advance toward higher levels of responsibility. Mission Wilder Training Academy exists to help people, crews, agencies, contractors, departments, and productions become safer, better prepared, and more operationally ready.
